Vibrant and Security Conscious, NMNA Honours Yahaya Bello, Other Governors




The highly anticipated Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award (NMNA) is set to honour the Executive Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Adoza Bello also known as WHITE LION with MOST VIBRANT AND SECURITY CONSCIOUS GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR, the which was earlier scheduled to hold in Zamfara, will now hold in Lagos.

Recall Yahaya Bello has recorded a tremendous change in terms of security in Kogi, the vibrant and outspoken politician his known for his bravity in Nigeria political circle.

However, the Director of Media and publicity, Mr Ajibade Alabi said the award which is in its 15th edition will now be held at Lagos Airport Hotel, Awolowo road, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to Ajibade; “Initially we have programmed ourselves towards July for the award in Zamfara State, where we intend to go with the winners and some selected top Journalists and Editors who will also tour Zamfara State to inspect the State Government’s projects.

“Despite this new development, the glitz, glamour and paparazzi that the award is associated with will not be taken away.”

The organizers however informed that if the security situation of the country improves, the event could be moved to the North for the next edition.


Known for its glamorous gathering, having failed to hold last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s edition would recognise journalists, businessmen and politicians for their dexterity and dedication, as well as their outstanding contributions to their various fields.

Notably among the awardees, is the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Zamfara State Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle (MON). While Sanwo-Olu will be receiving Best Governor in Infrastructure of the year, Matawalle will receive best Media Friendly Governor of the Year.

Matawalle, will be honored due to his cordial relationship with the media. The Governor will also use the medium to address the press on his developmental strategies and achievements in Zamfara since he assumed the office in 2019.

Daily Independent Reporters Emerge Best Aviation, Entertainment Writers

Lagos – It was a night of glory for Daily Independent at the 12th Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award on Sunday where two of its reporters emerged as outstanding writers for 2018. The annual award ceremony, which was held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, witnessed the crème-de-la-crème of the society, especially in politics, business, and entertainment. Olusegun Koiki, Daily Independent’s aviation correspondent, was announced as winner of ‘Aviation Writer of the Year’ award after his nomination alongside four other journalists from Punch, Daily Trust, BusinessDay, and ThisDay Newspapers. Koiki, after receiving the award, commended the organisers for their objectivity and due diligence in picking him as the winner. He lauded the management of Daily Independent for offering him the platform to exhibit his skills and also dedicated the award to Mrs. Ruth Innocent who, he said, lost her life just on Saturday, few hours after giving birth to a baby girl.
