The 12th edition of the Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards, held on Sunday 23rd September 2018. It was a very rainy Sunday in the Bevents Ikeja Airport Hotel venue of the awards, but the rains didn’t stop the guests from coming in their numbers. The awards started by 3pm prompt, with the rendition of the national anthem, and then followed the formal introductions of the MCs actor Ifeanyi Dike, and his co-anchor Roseline Ajose from England. Some Diaspora entertainers, Funmi Awonlon, Sophia a musician, also came for the award night.

Different celebrities, media gurus, politicians and professionals graced this year Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award, its 12th edition at B Event Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja. Red carpet started at 2pm while main event at 3pm. It was covered by almost all Nigeria Television stations, newspapers and online media companies. Lagos – It was a night of glory for Daily Independent at the 12th Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award on Sunday where two of its reporters emerged as outstanding writers for 2018. The annual award ceremony, which was held at the Lagos Airport Hotel, witnessed the crème-de-la-crème of the society, especially in politics, business, and entertainment. Olusegun Koiki, Daily Independent’s aviation correspondent, was announced as winner of ‘Aviation Writer of the Year’ award after his nomination alongside four other journalists from Punch, Daily Trust, BusinessDay, and ThisDay Newspapers. A Non-Governmental Organisation, Migration Enlightenment Project Nigeria (MEPN), has urged Nigerian journalists to focus more on the dangers of irregular immigration. The advice was given on Sunday by Femi Awoniyi, director of MEPN, at the 12th Nigeria Media Nite-Out Award 2018 at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos. “Too many Nigerians are dying daily in the course of irregularly migrating to Europe,” said Awoniyi, who also publishes The African Courier in Germany. “Too many are stranded in Europe, unable to obtain legal residency and obliged to return home. Too many are stranded in the transit countries such as Libya where they’re exposed horrendous human rights abuses.
